Taylor delighted as Blues outfox Rafa

Maik Taylor pulls off a save to deny Liverpool

MAIK Taylor said that Blues asked questions of Liverpool and they couldn't answer them.

The goalkeeper was kept reasonably busy, but was hardly under siege as a blue and white cloak was thrown over their hosts.

"We set our stall out, worked really hard, got our bodies behind the ball and the lads put themselves on the line," he said. "We just sat there and asked Liverpool a few questions to see if they could break us down. They couldn't, and we were delighted with that.

"With Kuyt coming off the front, the gaffer put one of the holding midfielders in there to stop that and we were obviously well aware of the runs that Gerrard makes.

"It was a bit of surprise that they didn't start with Torres. I suppose it did give us a bit of lift, he's the main man. Having said that, they've got other great strikers.

"I thought we coped with them very well and a couple of times they got close towards the end, we defended, got blocks in and saw the game out."

"It's a difficult place to play," Taylor added. "They have world class players and a world class team. We were always going to be up against it. So it's a fantastic point, anything like that is a bonus at Liverpool.

"It was a job well done, very professional. It keeps the momentum going, the confidence and the belief going after the win over Bolton Wanderers."

Just as last Saturday, Stephen Kelly got in a vital tackle that denied a goal.

"It was terrific," noted Taylor. "He has been magnificent for us week in, week out."
