Kingson injury scared players

Blues keeper Richard Kingson is treated on the pitch during his side's clash with Blackburn

RICHARD Kingson's sickening injury at Blackburn Rovers left his team mates scared and worried.

Colin Doyle, Blues other goalkeeper on duty for the League Cup tie, recalled: "When a cross came in, the big lad Samba clashed with him and Richard hit the post.

"I started to run up and down the line to warm up, then it looked as if he was OK.

"He got up, then collapsed again and that was a bit scary. We were all a bit worried about him. Fortunately, after going to hospital, he's fine, which is good news."

Kingson said the incident would not make him fearful next time he played.

"I didn't know what had happened until I regained consciousness in the hospital and thankfully I didn't have any cuts whatsoever," he said. "I will not unnecessarily endanger my life but I will go for the ball with the same hunger as I did before. That's the nature of my job.

"I want to defend Birmingham to make sure we win all matches so this accident won't prevent me from making the brave saves."
