Johnson set for jabs to ease injury woe

Damien Johnson

DAMIEN Johnson is set for another course of injections to try to help along his hamstring problem.

But another Blues casualty, striker Mikael Forssell, is on the mend. Midfielder Johnson has not figured in the Premier League this season after pulling a ham-string in July at Walsall.

After getting the all-clear to return to the reserves he promptly suffered a reaction, but to his other leg.

Four weeks minimum is the length of time for which the captain is tipped to be sidelined.

Johnson has been despatched to various specialists to seek a cure for his ailment, which affects his glutes and lumbar region.

"Jonty is going to have another set of injections," said manager Steve Bruce. "Obviously it's a concern to us but it could also be a coincidence that he's done his other ham-string, it's not the one that has been giving him grief since the back end of last season.

"But he's still not right yet. We're hoping that Forssell joins in during the next couple of days after his groin operations, so that's good news."

Forssell was booked in for surgery after Blues defeat at Blackburn Rovers in the League Cup.
