Blues midfielder hoping for end to kidnap hell

Wilson Palacios is tackled by Javier Mascherano

BLUES believe that their could be an imminent resolution to the saga of Wilson Palacios's kidnapped brother Edwin Rene.

Negotiations with the abductors of the 15-year-old have been going on for the last five days.

They have demanded a ransom and another brother, Milton, and the Honduran authorities have been speaking to the group in a bid to resolve the issue.

Palacios has stayed in Birmingham and trained as normal with Blues, but naturally remains worried for his sibling's safety.

He was left out of the Blues team that lost 3-1 at Everton on Saturday as he was understandably not in the right frame of mind to concentrate on football.

Meanwhile, Stuart Parnaby was substituted in last night's reserves hammering of Fulham because of a tightening behind the knee.

Parnaby came off in the 24th minute of the game as a precautionary measure, said coach Keith Bertschin.
