Birmingham City's compensation battle with Scottish FA over Alex McLeish

BIRMINGHAM City and the Scottish Football Association are at loggerheads over compensation for Alex McLeish.

After having their approach to speak to McLeish rejected, the national coach resigned in order to become Blues manager.

That left Blues' board and SFA chiefs to thrash out a deal as McLeish had two years left on his contract.

It was thought that around £1million would secure McLeish's services before he walked. But a settlement of half that amount appears more realistic.
