Wilson Palacios makes an impression on Alex McLeish

WILSON Palacios has caught the eye of manager Alex McLeish.

But the midfielder is not going to be rushed back into action after finally getting clearance to return from Honduras as he is lacking full fitness.

Palacios was granted extended compassionate leave after an international to try to help secure his kidnapped brother's release. Then visa problems scuppered his return.

Said McLeish: "We've got a fair idea of what level Palacios is at, he's been with our fitness coach Dan Harris. We have to try and get him some more work in.

"He looks a half-decent player. You can see from his touch in little training exercises. It will be nice to see what he can do when he's fully fit."
