Birmingham City to pay tribute to Len Boyd

Len Boyd

BLUES hope to get Premier League permission to hold a minute's applause before Saturday's game against Arsenal at St Andrew's in memory of Len Boyd.

The former wing-half, who captained Blues to the 1955 Second Division Championship and in the 1956 FA Cup final, died last week, aged 84.

Boyd made 282 appearances for Blues, scoring 14 times, in a seven-year career that began with his £17,000 transfer from Plymouth Argyle in January 1949.

Blues' players will wear black armbands on Saturday as a mark of respect.
