Karren Brady: Birmingham City FC is safe with us

BLUES remain in safe hands, Karren Brady stressed to the AGM.

Addressing the 130 share-holders gathered in the Gold Suite at St Andrew's, the managing director told them not to fret about Carson Yeung's lingering presence.

"On an executive basis, the board are here, on average, 12 hours a day, six days a week," Brady stressed.

"We work incredibly hard to make sure the club is successful on and off the pitch.

"Our commitment to that end will not change and will not waver.

"On the pitch, we have brought in a new manager, and I would like to be able to say we could guarantee Premier League football.

"But we do believe in the manager, the players he's brought in and I hope you all agree we are playing quality football, giving good performance and there is no lack of passion on that pitch."

Turning to David Sullivan and the Golds, she said: "If there's ever a clearer indication, then the major shareholders cannot show and cannot express their commitment to the football club more than they have done by more buying shares (in the last few days)."

Brady said Blues were on course to post a record turnover of more than £53million this season.

Accounts showed the club lost £6.518million before tax for the financial year ending August 2007.

Taking in the Championship-promotion campaign, Blues made a £7.6million profit on player sales.
