James McFadden wants that winning feeling

James McFadden

JAMES McFadden has admitted he would like to rediscover that Everton feeling at Blues.

Prior to his £5million exit, the forward said it was a 'strange' experience knowing that games were more than likely going to be won.

In a relegation battle now at Blues, McFadden said: "Before I left it was a strange feeling at Everton knowing you were going into games and going to win them.

"It was a weird feeling that you weren't expecting to lose a game. I'd like to rediscover that here.

"You knew going into a game that no matter what happened you weren't going to lose.

"Belief and spirit is a big reason for Everton doing so well and hopefully we can get something like that at Birmingham."

McFadden said he had been used to being the underdog, both at Everton and with Scotland.

And it better suited the Blues team, like it did Scotland under Alex McLeish.

"I think so. Subconsciously you raise your game when you come up against the bigger sides because you know they are expected to win and you just need to go out and try your hardest and try and enjoy the game as much as you can.

"I think it makes it a bit easier to approach the game because you are not as uptight and you are more relaxed."
