Birmingham City urged to stay positive

Mikael Forssell

BIRMINGHAM City have to keep playing positively and with aggression, Mikael Forssell said today.

A feature of the last two outings against Spurs and Arsenal was a determination to make things go Blues way due to a high tempo and a desire to press and play further up the pitch.

Blues defeat of Spurs has been dismissed as a one-off in some quarters because it came six days after they won the Carling Cup, thus they were not focused.

"You can look into details like that but a 4-1 result was a great result," said Forssell. "And especially in the first-half, we played very aggressively and when we didn't have the ball, we pushed on and won the ball in their defensive areas and we created chances which we scored from.

"It was a very positive Birmingham side."

Same again at Portsmouth tonight then, said Forssell.

"We know they are a very good team, a very physical team and we know we have to put in our best performance if we want to get something from the game.

"We are positive, we will try to score and push forward - and that is the way to go forward."
