Alex McLeish to look at Michael Owen's equaliser

Michael Owen equalises against Blues.

BLUES manager Alex McLeish admitted he will study the DVD of Newcastle United's equaliser to see if Blues could have done better.

The manager's instinctive game-night reaction to Michael Owen's 55th minute goal was not favourable.

"I felt sorry for Maik Taylor because he made a great save but Owen got there first to follow up," said McLeish.

"Viduka, who is a threat with his aerial power, flicked it on and we didn't deal with the second ball. Martins kept it alive, Maik's made a great save and Owen's first to react.

"We know what he's like in the six-yard box and I'm disappointed that Maik didn't get more help from the defenders but I'll have to look at it again to see if any of them could have done better. But we do need defenders to dominate in there in those situations."
