Sebastian Larsson set for scan on knee

Sebastian Larsson

SEBASTIAN Larsson was today due for a scan on a knee injury that forced his substitution at half-time in last night's draw against Newcastle United.

Larsson was caught by a nasty whack on the leg from Nicky Butt.

Manager Alex McLeish said it would be a major blow to his side if Larsson was sidelined.

"We were excellent in the first half, we just needed another goal to give us a bit of breathing space," he reflected.

"In the second half, we never really got out of the blocks.

"We definitely missed the impetus Sebastian Larsson gives us.

"No disrespect to Stuart Parnaby, because he came on and did a really good job for us, but he's a defender and it's difficult to expect him to go up and down the line and put crosses in, which Seb has been doing magnificently for us recently.

"We missed the drive and thrust he brings. Also, his goals have been fantastic, and his delivery from the wide areas. His work rate too. I think he's having a fantastic season.

"It's his medial ligament and we would hate to lose him."
