Daniel de Ridder injury scare for Birmingham City

DANIEL de Ridder has given Birmingham City another injury scare.

The winger had to be withdrawn a minute before half-time in last night's Birmingham Senior Cup final defeat of Burton Albion because of a ham-string strain.

Although de Ridder has not made the 16 for any first team games since the Huddersfield Town FA Cup debacle, manager Alex McLeish has stressed he has not ruled him out of his thoughts completely.

But now de Ridder could face a spell in the treatment room. Reserve team and Academy manager Terry

Westley said: "It was a hamstring injury rather than cramp, so we brought him off as a precautionary measure.

"The physios will have a look at it but I think it's one that could put him out."

Defender Franck Queudrue was also substituted after completing 65 minutes of the 5-0 rout on his comeback from suspension.

Queudrue is under consideration for Saturday's game at home to Everton.

Westley explained: "Franck was just a bit stiff in both hamstrings so we took no chances and got him off."
