Frank Quedrue: Competition with David Murphy is a good thing

David Murphy holds off Steed Malbranque

DAVID Murphy left Middlesbrough because of Franck Queudrue - but Queudrue doesn’t plan to leave Blues because of Murphy.

In fact, Queudrue has given his seal of approval to Murphy’s signing, in January, from Hibernian, even though he has taken his place at left-back.

“I know David of course,” said Queudrue. “He left Middlesbrough when I was there, and I’m delighted he’s with us now.

“Alex McLeish bought him because he’s quality and I know that as well from when we were at Middlesbrough.

“He is in the team at left-back, he took his chance and has played well.

“To add a player like him, it’s what you have to do. You need fair competition for places and that’s what we have got.

“The gaffer will bring more players to the club I am sure and that makes you even stronger.

“Of course, I want to play but I know that isn’t always possible and I do like it here at Birmingham.”
