Richard Beale helps beat Birmingham City Academy

BLUES FOOTBALL Education officer Richard Beale put one over his pupils when he turned out for Rushall Olympic this week.

Unibond side Pics played host to a Blues Academy side at Dales Lane, which Beale also helps coach.

Rushall ran out 1-0 winners and, yes, you’ve guessed it, Beale popped up with a second-half winner. His manager Paul Holleran said: “It was a really well-taken goal.

“Blues must have brought between 200 and 300 supporters, most of whom knew who Richard was and gave him a hard time in the first half.

“Some of Richard’s crosses were a bit wayward and the Blues supporters took great delight in telling him so. But I’ve never heard so much applause when he scored.”

Beale added: “There was an extra spring in my step when I turned up for work at Wast Hills the next day.

“I don’t think my boss Terry Westley was too impressed at the time but he took it well afterwards.”
