Letting Ross McCormack fly with Bluebirds
BLUES left Cardiff City reeling when they pinched Charlton Athletic’s Marcus Bent from under their noses in the summer.
But they didn’t quite get the revenge thought by signing Ross McCormack from Motherwell.
Alex McLeish gave McCormack his debut for Rangers and was interested in taking the striker, who is the Bluebirds top-scorer with five goals.
“Ross was definitely one we had considered,” said the Blues boss. “We thought that the amount of strikers we had at the club, it would be hard for him – as it’s hard for them all now – to get in.
“Whereas he had been playing every single game at Motherwell I thought if I was going to do it just to gazump Cardiff, then maybe it was for the wrong reasons.
“But we would have been interested in taking him because he can play anywhere along the front three and even in the hole behind, he’s a clever player.
“Cardiff had made the earlier move and it was kind of cast in stone that he was going there.”
