Gary McSheffrey: They're all out to get us!

BLUES are having to deal with every other team’s best shot.

That’s the opinion of Gary McSheffrey, who has witnessed opponents raising their game when tackling Blues.

“I think we are considered the team to beat because of our squad, and the fact that we’re from the second biggest city in the country,” said the winger.

“People tend to come to Birmingham and roll their sleeves up and raise their game.

“It’s an occasion for them, and it’s the same when we play away.

“It’s something we have to deal with if we are serious about getting promotion and if you want to be the best.”

In recent weeks, Burnley, QPR and Coventry City were definitely ‘up for it’ against Blues.

Southampton and Norwich City, too, earlier in the season came out all guns blazing.

“When you look at it on paper, you have to say our squad is awesome for this league,” McSheffrey added. “But we know we have to show that by our results and performances.”

McSheffrey is currently waylaid by a knee complaint, caused by wear and tear over several months.

He does not require surgery, but isn’t likely to be ready for action again until the end of the month at the earliest.

“I hope to be back in a few weeks, it’s about strengthening the joint and making sure I’m pain free,” he said.
