Birmingham City's David Gold predicts Championship lead will change hands
DAVID Gold has predicted that the Championship lead will change hands on a regular basis between now and the end of the season.
And the chairman said he remained confident Blues would be there in the shake-up.
Blues face Reading – second versus third – in a huge St Andrew’s fixture on Saturday (12.45pm).
Blues lost a little ground on table-toppers Wolves due to defeat at Preston North End, and Reading moved on to their shoulder by seeing off Norwich City.
“It’s disappointing in a way that two other clubs have done so well to this point in the season, at halfway,” said Gold.
“If it was just us out on our own, or just two out of the three, then that would be fine.
“But you have to give credit to all involved, it is quite an unusual situation.
“Naturally, we really want to close the gap on Wolves and I believe it will happen.
“I believe ourselves, Wolves and Reading can run away with it a little bit and it will be nip and tuck between us right the way through.
“There is every chance that we will spend some time at the top, and so will Reading. I can see it being that close between us all.
“The important thing is what you do over the long haul, and I am confident that we will be able to reproduce our points return so far in the second-half of the season.”
Blues have 47 points, Wolves 53 and Reading 46.
