Damien Johnson prepares for Birmingham City return

over the summer a year ago, had an operation to correct a weakness in his shoulder which caused it to dislocate.

All Blues’ goals came via trialists in the behind-closed-doors game, one known to be from Harrow Borough winger Robin Shroot.

He did himself no harm at all in front of watching manager Alex McLeish and his coaching staff.

Shroot, 20, who is spending the week with Blues, showed good technique in possession, passed well and was eager in his work rate.

A non-contract player at the Ryman Premier League side, Shroot has scored 11 goals in 14 games to send scouts flocking to see what all the fuss is about.

Likened to Darren Anderton in style – his game is based more on subtlety than explosive power – he began his career at Wimbledon as a teenager before they moved to Milton Keynes.

Then came spells at Stained, AFC Wimbledon before he hooked up with Harrow, who are managed by former Blues assistant in Barry Fry’s time, David Howell.

Derby, Coventry City, QPR and Charlton Athletic are among a host of clubs who have all been watching Shroot, who made his Northern Ireland under-21 debut last month.
