Jon McCarthy: Birmingham City squad is good enough
maybe someone a bit more creative there in the middle.
‘‘They would be the positions for me, where they might have a look at it.
“Then again, it depends on what they get offered. There might be one that comes out of the blue he gets a chance to take, the board are attracted by it, and they go ‘yes’.”
McCarthy, who now follows Blues home and away as an expert summariser for BRMB and Gold radio, says McLeish is clearly determined to boost the team’s goal power.
In the last five matches Blues have scored just three times.
“I don’t think anyone is kidded into thinking that Blues are playing this great brand of fluid, attacking football,” says McCarthy.
“But I do think the potential is there for it to happen and from what I’ve been hearing, Alex McLeish is looking to address it, he wants to get more creativity into the team.
‘‘But at the same time, he can’t suddenly leave them too open at the back.”
