Blues in £3.8m bid for Boyd
Jan 7 2009 By Andy Walker
BLUES are closing in on Kris Boyd, after upping their offer to around £3.8million for the Rangers striker.
Having had an initial £3million bid rejected, Blues’ determination to capture the prolific hit-man saw them table an improved deal, which includes add-ons.
And while Scotsman Boyd, 25, looks set to complete the finer details of a five-year contract and a reunion with the manager who originally brought him to Ibrox before capping him at international level, Alex McLeish will continue with his shake-up.
The next priority is to boost Blues’ defensive ranks and the wheels are already in motion for an unnamed centre-half from the Premier League who will arrive at St Andrew’s on a loan deal.
While McLeish was always looking to add some pace and creativity to his flanks, the Blues boss is also eager to strengthen his back-line in a bid to aid his push for an immediate return to the Premier League.
