Birmingham City: McLeish ready for a clear-out
ALEX McLeish has not ruled out the prospect of players leaving in the transfer window.
Blues striker Cameron Jerome and fit-again midfielder Gary McSheffrey have been linked with moves away from St Andrew’s.
And with McLeish having drafted in five additions already this month, departures could free funds for more arrivals.
Big Eck is adamant that he wants to keep his current squad together but admits that you can never say never in football.
“It’s my intention to keep everybody so we will be guided by the board again on these things,” said McLeish. “I’ve not read the papers but I’ve not had any enquiries for any of the players. You can’t rule anything out, you never know in football and everyone has got a price.”
The unscheduled fixture break last weekend helped clear up a few minor niggles for Blues in time for today’s trip to Blackpool. Kevin Phillips and James McFadden would have been rested had the FA Cup game gone ahead last Saturday but they are both in contention for the Bloomfield Road clash.
