“If he’s pushing for a first-team place in a few weeks then it will be a pleasant surprise.
“He is certainly a capable player and you never know he might get an opportunity but it’s not my intention to push him ahead of the players that are first-team regulars at the moment.
“He’s come from non-League football.
“We took a calculated gamble because we thought that there was a very good footballer on show, a guy who can take it under pressure, can use both feet, has got an eye for the goal so this kid is worth a look at.”
