Birmingham City: We need another striker says Alex
Jan 10 2009 By Andy Walker
BIRMINGHAM CITY boss Alex McLeish has admitted that his side’s lack of goals forced him to go on the hunt for extra firepower.
With five highly-rated strikers in his squad, many would have been surprised with McLeish’s pursuit of prolific Rangers striker Kris Boyd.
However the Blues boss insists that he had no choice because his Championship promotion-chasers simply weren’t finding the net enough.
Although Big Eck is unsure as to where exactly he points the finger of blame, he was eager to bolster his already dangerous attack.
Kevin Phillips is Blues’ current top scorer with 11 but his nearest challenger for the crown is Cameron Jerome with six.
But McLeish believes that service for his frontmen is another issue hence the addition of widemen Scott Sinclair and Hameur Bouazza this week.
