A ‘HUNGRY’ Blues will try to turn up the heat on Wolves in tonight’s FA Cup derby.
Alex McLeish’s side return to action for the first time since December 28 against their Championship promotion rivals.
And they can’t wait to take to the St Andrew’s pitch and attempt to strike a psychological blow in the rearranged third-round tie.
Wolves drew their two Christmas games and then fell to a shock home defeat to Preston North End on Saturday.
Another reverse, by their near neighbours, would crank up the pressure on a side who have otherwise fairly breezed through the season.
Roy Aitken, Blues’ joint first-team coach, stressed that the team who fancied it most were likely to prevail.
“I think psychologically it would be a boost for either team to win, because of where we are at the moment,” said Aitken.
“But we’re not looking too much into Wolves’ result at the weekend because this is a cup tie. It’s different for them as well.
“It’s a derby game and you tend to find that form goes out of the window a little bit.
“It’s down to the team that maybe has that little bit more desire and who wants to do well and plays better on the night.
“We’re not looking too much into Wolves’ recent history and results. We haven’t played ourselves for a few days.
“But psychologically, yes, it’s always a nice boost if you can
