Birmingham City: McLeish scotches Cameron Jermone exit rumours
Jan 17 2009 by Colin Tattum, Birmingham Mail
CAMERON Jerome is going nowhere, Blues boss Alex McLeish insisted today.
In the summer, Jerome was wanted by Fulham and Sunderland and Wigan Athletic have recently been linked with him.
McLeish’s move for Kris Boyd sparked speculation that he would then have to balance the books to recoup the £3.8million – with Jerome a candidate to go.
But McLeish told the Birmingham Mail: “No. That wasn’t the case.
“Had we got Boyd, it would have meant a lot of strikers and some of them thinking they were maybe further down the pecking order.
“But I don’t think Cameron has to worry about anything.
“He’s been in good form, he’s made an impact coming on as a sub in previous games and I thought he was very lively the other night.
“It’s up to Cameron to get among the goals and start causing some damage in terms of goals return.
“He’s certainly bright enough. He has caused defenders problems with his speed and strength but strikers are judged on goals.”
The attempt to get Rangers hitman Boyd has been firmly binned by McLeish due to disagreement over personal terms.
