Birmingham City rule out move for Real Betis striker Mariano Pavone

BIRMINGHAM CITY have ruled out a transfer window move for Real Betis striker Mariano Pavone.

Alex McLeish admitted he couldn’t be sure that the Argentinian would be a good fit, and he would have been priced out of Blues’ range anyway.

Pavone was watched by joint first-team coach Andy Watson a fortnight ago and McLeish had to abandon another scouting trip himself last week due to a fog-bound Heathrow Airport.

But the manager confirmed that Pavone, who moved to Spain from Estudiantes in a 6.8million euros deal in 2007, was now off the radar.
