Franck Queudrue: Birmingham City fans can help us to reach the Prem
FRANCK Queudrue today called for a united front as Blues prepared for two key home games.
The popular defender urged Blues supporters to rally behind the side and help them achieve the season’s goal of reclaiming Premier League status.
The recent failures in not strengthening their position in the automatic promotion spots and a negative perception by fans of the management and team’s worth has made for a fraught and fragile air surrounding Blues. Wolves have recorded one win in 11 games and had it not been for Dimi Konstantopoulos’ bizarre equalising own-goal they would have suffered four straight defeats in the last four matches.
Reading have just one win in six and registered just an own goal in that time.
So the other long-time occupiers of the top three places are arguably in a bigger rut and facing questions and criticisms of their own.
But the pressure on Blues has tended to be more intense and demanding, from the outset in fact, and Queudrue said that it could be destructive.
Blues face Bristol City at home tomorrow night and then entertain Southampton on Saturday.
“We need our fans to be backing us up,” said the defender, who stepped-in for the injured Liam Ridgewell in the controversial 2-1 loss at Sheffield United.
“On Sunday the Sheffield fans were right behind their lads.
“It might be difficult sometimes, but we need our fans to get right behind us too.
