Birmingham City won't axe McLeish - Karren Brady

Alex McLeish will not be axed during this campaign as Blues boss, Karren Brady has insisted.

The dissatisfaction with chunks of the football served up under McLeish, Blues inability to lead the way in the Championship and some transfer market dealings has left many followers disgruntled.

But McLeish’s credentials will only be analysed at the season’s end by the board, the managing director told the AGM yesterday.

“Next month the board will have been at this club 16 years, in that time we have had four managers, an extraordinarily low amount,” she said.

“We believe that when we bring someone in, they are the best person for the job. Alex certainly was that.

“We also believe that to bring success at the football club, you need to have a long-term relationship.

“When the pressures and expectations mount, sometimes you have to have a different view.

“At the moment Alex is here to do a job and our job as a board is to support him by generating as much money as possible in order that he can be successful.

“Speaking as a supporter, I agree that our performances have not se the world on fire and that 13 points from the last 14 games [before the Bristol City win] is simply not good enough.
