Birmingham City won't axe McLeish - Karren Brady

“We have to be very focused on the key games that we have got left. Now is the time to be united, but we share your frustrations.

“And I have to tell you this: our wage bill is £21 million, the largest in the division by a long way, and we have never said ‘no’ to the manager on any player he wants to bring in, within reason, and that means only if we can’t afford the transfer fee and the wages.”

Brady added to the shareholders gathered in the ground’s Gold Suite: “The pressure you and the board put on is never greater than the pressure he puts on himself to deliver a successful team at St Andrew’s we are happy to watch.

“Regardless of whether you like, dislike, agree, disagree, I can assure you that the man is committed, he is dedicated and he is passionate about delivering Premier League football to Birmingham.

“I think he will be the first to say that he’s not got the team playing particularly well.

“Some of you may have given up on him but we most certainly haven’t.

“The position of this board is that we have a manager, we have a team, we are still in a good position. We equally accept the frustration you are feeling yourselves, but making a change now is not the correct thing to do.”
