Birmingham City: Alex McLeish confident away win is on the cards

Alex McLeish believes that Birmingham City can now leave the comfortable surroundings of St Andrew’s with renewed confidence.
The manager watched his side record a second consecutive win on home turf with a 1-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday to remain firmly lodged in the Championship’s automatic promotion places.
Saturday’s result stretched Birmingham’s undefeated home run in the league to seven matches but their record on the road hasn’t been as impressive.
The Blues haven’t won away since Boxing Day, a run of five fixtures.
So with a trip to Barnsley on the horizon tomorrow, it would be no surprise if Birmingham ventured to Oakwell with a certain amount of trepidation.
However, McLeish believes after recent results at St Andrew’s, albeit by only a single goal on each occasion, his team can travel with extra belief.
“We’d take another nine 1-0 victories, no doubt about it. We’ve just got to try and keep winning games and playing with that spirit and attitude,” said McLeish.
