Birmingham City star leaps to defence of Carlos Costly

CAMERON Jerome insists everybody at Blues has faith in Carlos Costly’s ability.

Unless Garry O’Connor makes an unlikely start from the off at Barnsley tonight, Jerome and Costly look set to lead the attack at Oakwell.

The duo played up front together for 58 minutes on Saturday, following the withdrawal of Marcus Bent with a hamstring injury, and Jerome insists the on-loan Honduran is starting to find his feet.

“Carlos is settling in. It is difficult coming from another country and the tempo of the English game is difficult to get used to,” said Jerome.

“The lads are helping him come along slowly but surely and I think that obviously the gaffer has got him for a reason because he believes in him.

‘‘We believe in him too so I’m sure he will continue to deputise for the injured lads and this is an opportunity for him to stake his claim, as it is an opportunity for me and the rest of the players.
