Birmingham City hot-shot praised by boss

Hubbins, a former Shenley Court School pupil, was spotted playing for Cadburys and chose Blues Academy over Villa, where he had a trial.

Most of his family are Blues fans – he supports Arsenal – as is his mum, Yvonne, who watched from the St Andrew’s stands last night with pride.

“Self-belief, you’ve got to keep telling him what a danger he is and what a player he could be,” Westley added.

“He goes across and trains with the first team sometimes and he gives people an awful hard time.

“And you want to kick him as a defender. When he gets you like that, then he’s even more dangerous because when you lunge in he’s got the ability to skip round you.

“And the big thing is that he can get a goal, and there’s not too many wide ones who can do that now.”
