Garry O'Connor says home wins will seal promotion

“I think we have been a bit complacent at times this season. After a couple of good results, we’ve expected things to happen rather than putting things into a game to make them happen.

“We’ve kind of peaked a little bit then gone backwards; peaked again and then gone backwards again. That can’t happen from now on, we’ve got to be up for every game, take no prisoners.”

Kevin Phillips has joined O’Connor back in contention after injury, and the firepower Blues need should be available for the business end of the campaign.

O’Connor said: “We’re getting some big players back, like Kev Phillips, Stuart Parnaby is close, James McFadden, Marcus Bent isn’t far away, nor Djimi Traore.

“We know it’s not always been the best football this season, and with our pitch we’ve had to adapt and go long from the back more quickly.

“But we’re still second in the league, we’ve still got automatic promotion in our sights and it’s important that the fans realise we are trying our hardest and the lads are working their socks off.

‘‘And even if it isn’t pretty, you’ve got to be professional and get the job done whichever way you can because we all want to be in the same place next season: the Premier League.”
