McLeish still upbeat despite Birmingham City's below-par display against Norwich

“He would have expected a few more goals this season the amount of games the big fella has participated in.

“He looks hungry in front of goal and I’m sure that he will feel, if he’s selected, he will score again the next game.”

Garry O’Connor started for the first time since October 25 and Kevin Phillips was also back in the swing of things after injury, as a substitute.

The 13-goal Phillips was eased in gently, but should be fully firing after a hamstring tear by the time Wolves roll up at St Andrew’s.

“He is the top-scorer and he has worked his magic on a few occasions for us this season,” said McLeish.

“Unfortunately we didn’t get great service to him on Saturday although he again – typical Kevin - at the end produced something out of nothing with a header and beat Gary Doherty, who is about eight inches bigger than him, and that shows you Kevin’s prowess in the box.

“I’m pleased to have him back in the fold and I’ve got to look at some way of getting my top-scorer back in the team.”
