Birmingham City: Cameron Jerome must be more like Shearer says boss
Cameron Jerome takes on Alan Gow (L) and Jason Shackell.
CAMERON Jerome should take a leaf out of Alan Shearer’s book, according to Alex McLeish.
Different type of strikers they may be but Jerome has to develop the kind of single-minded nature Shearer was famed for.
When Jerome’s confident, he’s more effective.

And although he only scored his first goal in 19 appearances at Doncaster Rovers, that fact shouldn’t get him down, said McLeish.
“I think strikers are confidence players in general,” said the manager. “Even the Alan Shearers of this world.
“I remember when Alan went on a drought, of course the confidence was affected and the harder he tried, the worse it got.
“But he had that hardness, he was made of steel, and he flicked it off his shoulder like dandruff and it didn’t stop him going in where it hurt for the next chance.
“He knew at some stage he would start scoring again, and that’s what Cameron has got to keep on doing.”
Jerome’s header at Doncaster Rovers was well deserved, said McLeish.
And then he followed up by netting against Norwich City in his next outing, making it eight goals for the season overall.
