“But we never lose our belief and trust in the players and I don’t think the players lose their trust in us. We’ve been lying in second place for a while and it appeared that it was all doom and gloom but I don’t think you can lose anybody when you’re second in the league.”
Johnson was joined in the Northern Ireland team on Saturday by his Birmingham team-mate and veteran goalkeeper Maik Taylor, who also played 90 minutes.
Elsewhere on the international stage for Birmingham, Larsson was an 81st -minute substitute for Sweden during their 0-0 draw with Portugal, striker Carlos Costly played the final ten minutes of Honduras’ 1-1 draw with Trinidad and Tobago, Hameur Bouazza was a 61st-minute substitute for Algeria during their stalemate with Rwanda and Radhi Jaidi played the entire 90 minutes of Tunisia’s 2-1 victory over Kenya.
