Birmingham City striker has eyes on title after Wolves victory
GARRY O'Connor today warned that the Championship title was now in Blues sights after the crucial 2-0 victory over leaders Wolves.
O'Connor netted the clinching goal for Blues in a sparky derby that saw Lee Carsley sent-off in the first-half for a high tackle on Chris Iwelumo.
The success moved Blues to within two points of Wolves and O'Connor admitted that the result was 'massive'.
"If Wolves had won the game they would have been just about there, they would have probably gone on to win the league," said the striker, whose 69th minute goal was his first since returning to the fold from a five-month injury lay-off.
"We showed the great team spirit we've got, even down to 10 men.
"I think we started the game really positively and we showed who wanted to be bosses on the pitch.
"The desire was there. There was just a feeling about the changing room. It's been there all week in fact.
"It was great to get the three points and everyone is buzzing now.
"Of course we've got to have our eyes on the title. We're only two points off Wolves and the way we are playing at the moment, why not?
"Hopefully this will have dented Wolves confidence a little bit and we can go on and win our remaining games.
"We really have to push on and capitalise on this.
"If we want to be Champions we need to go to Charlton on Saturday, get three points there, beat Plymouth on Monday, and carry on winning after that.
"I've said from day the start that we've got one of the best teams in the Championship and for me I think we should go on and win this league, yes."
