Birmingham City inspired after sending off says Alex McLeish
“Their efforts, their spirit, their heart, the fire in their belly.
“I think having ten men against Wolves took its toll on the weekend [against Charlton Athletic], truth be told.
“I thought we were a bit leggy at the weekend but against Plymouth we found another spark; credit to them.”
McLeish added: “I thought we started bright, I didn’t think we started defensively very well with the three balls over the top and the one that led to the penalty. We were caught quite flat a couple of times.
“The performance wasn’t too fantastic at the back. Going forward up the pitch, we looked as though we were ready to swamp Plymouth and put them under big pressure.
“Apart from that, I have nothing but admiration for these players and their attitude.
“We had a cause. At the end of the day we are trying to get to the Premier League and we’re a goal down, we’re down to ten men, there’s a long way to go, it’s a hot day and after the weekend I’m thinking ‘have we got anything left in the tank?’”.
