Birmingham City: Maik Taylor disappointed, but tips Doyle to do well
Maik Taylor has revealed his disappointment at having to sit out Saturday's crucial game at Watford due to suspension.
Taylor, however, said Colin Doyle was a more than able deputy to step in.
An appeal of wrongful dismissal concerning Taylor's controversial sending-off against Plymouth Argyle was rejected by an FA regulatory commission yesterday.
So his one-game ban stands, and rookie referee Clive Oliver's ineptitude was not called into account.
Taylor said it seemed that the camera angles of the incident, in which Jamie Mackie went flying outside the area and earned Plymouth their goal via a penalty, proved inconclusive.
"I'm very disappointed with the verdict, although I have to say I didn't raise my hopes up too much," he told the Birmingham Mail.
"On the DVD we sent in, the camera angle was from an outside view and the referee was behind the play at the time, so it was always going to be difficult.
