Birmingham City's James McFadden ready for game of his life

Birmingham City writer Colin Tattum is online for a live chat today at 1pm at www.birminghammail.net/live

“It hasn’t all been doom and gloom [with his performances], but I want to be able to kick on and start to show everybody why the manager paid the sort of money he did for me.

“I don’t feel burdened by it or I don’t feel pressured by it, I just feel that he put a lot of faith in me and it’s time to show what I am really capable of.”

Injuries and illness have hampered McFadden, none more so than this campaign. He has been hankering for a full season of football after being in and out of the team at Everton.

“I’ve not played regular enough, it’s time now and hopefully I can start that on Saturday,” he said.

“I wouldn’t say I’ve been overly pleased with my own form. Last week I wasn’t too happy.

‘‘I need to play the games and I need to start performing to a level a I can get to and hopefully I can do that before the season finishes.

“It has been frustrating this season. I have had a few injuries and at times we’ve not done as well as we should have done.

‘‘I’ve not played as well as I should have either but all will be forgotten if we get the right result on Saturday.”
