'This league is not fun' says Birmingham City striker

Blues have rumbled along menacingly since defeating Bristol City on March 4 to take themselves to within sight of the Premier League.

It was a key game at the time, Bristol were the division’s form side and pressure was on to maintain their position in the automatic promotion places after two defeats in three matches.

Plus there was criticism from within about Blues team being ‘much inferior to the sum of talent at our disposal’.

But during that encounter and since Blues have played with a huge appetite for and a stubborn focus on promotion and strung together a nine-game undefeated sequence.

“First and foremost we’ve been difficult to beat,” said James McFadden, analysing the last couple of months. “But probably the biggest part of it is the team spirit. We showed great resilience in the Plymouth game. We were unlucky not to take something more from that. Wolves as well, we showed great character.

“If we carry that on we will be OK.”
