Jordon Mutch prepares for the future at Birmingham City
“After going away to Austria and making an impact with the team, then making my debut against Southampton, it was good. Then my injury, it came as a shock.
“It has been a learning curve for me and I think I will come back better and stronger next season.”
Problems with the growth plates in the lower parts of Mutch’s leg affected his feet in October time. Only now has he started light jogging.
He admitted he feared the worst.
“It was frustrating that I was in the wheelchair for three months, and having the operation I was very nervous because I didn’t know if it was going to go right or wrong.
“After the operation, which went well, it was great to hear that the pins were in and I was going to be fine.
“Six, eight weeks later I went back to see the specialist and he sent me away, I was fully weight bearing again, walking and ready to go.
“It was worrying considering how good I started off the season and wanting to be - and stay- in the team, to then finding myself out of football, and maybe not able to play again.
“But as the operation has been done well, it’s very pleasing to know that everything is going to be OK.”
