Tom Ross Column: Birmingham City must do it the hard way
IT’S an old saying but, none the less, a very true one as any Bluenose will confirm. It goes something like this: ‘‘If there is a hard way to do anything then Blues will find it.’’
That is the story of life as a Birmingham City supporter.
One nil up at home with 20 minutes to go knowing that a win guarantees you three points and a place in the Premier League.
I just wished Cameron Jerome had tackled Paul McKenna as well as he did that looney-tune fan who ran on to the pitch during the game, or that Alex McLeish had packed the midfield and tried to protect what he had.
However, I accept that it’s easy to make all the right decisions from the press box and after the game.
Still, after what was a weekend from hell, full of disappointment, despair, anger and understandably, a feeling of here we go again, it’s now time to turn the negativity into positivity ahead of D-Day.
Blues fans should take a leaf from the 70’s movie Kelly’s Heroes when Donald Sutherland famously said before going into battle “no negative vibes”.
Reading’s win over Norwich on Monday means that Blues cannot afford to lose at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday.
