Birmingham City ownership: Carson Yeung has no plans to sell

“We will decide whether to stick with the same situation or find a solution to work closely with the club.

“If Mr Gold or Mr Sullivan want to work together then we would be interested but if not then we don’t want to have unnecessary arguments or cause bad feeling.

“Everybody is happy and celebrating Birmingham’s promotion and we just want to do what is best for the club.”

Yeung attended just one fixture in person last season as most of his efforts have gone towards his latest business acquisition, Hong Kong newspaper Sing Pao Daily, of which Yu has been appointed the CEO.

However, he has managed to follow Birmingham’s progress through the extensive TV coverage of English football that is on offer in the Far East.

Yu added: “Of course we are delighted to see Birmingham back in the top flight again. Hopefully this time Birmingham can learn from their experiences and stay up there. This is a good thing for Midland clubs and a good thing for Birmingham.”

It is doubtful the suggestion that Yeung looks set to continue his association with Blues – although a full-blown takeover remains unlikely – will go down well with Gold or Sullivan.

The failed purchase led to Steve Bruce’s departure to Wigan Athletic and Gold later blamed Blues’ relegation from the Premier League last year on the whole affair.
