| Live chat with Birmingham City writer Colin Tattum | (05/15/2009) |
11:59 | BPM Newsroom: Hi all Colin Tattum is here to answer all your Blues related questions... |
11:59 | Steve Wollaston: Transfer targets anyone? |
11:59 | [Comment From Seb] Hello Tatts |
11:59 | [Comment From Richard] do you think we can realisitically expect a change in the style of play? wasnt this our downfall last time; not replacing savage and trying to play more football |
12:00 | [Comment From Scoobers] Steve, can't afford any but thanks for asking ... |
12:00 | [Comment From Terry] colin i find it difficult to belive that the Board Who we all know wish to sell the club, will fianancaly spend big money in the transfer market? what do u think |
12:00 | [Comment From BluSabre] What are you having for lunch? |
12:00 | [Comment From Gazza] Michael Bradley seems to keep cropping up and has good reports! |
12:00 | [Comment From JohnR] Hi Guys, What is the situation with Maik Taylor. I hadn't realised he was out of contract this summer. |
12:01 | [Comment From Seb] I'd take Joe Hart over Maik |
12:03 | Colin Tattum: Hi all, re style of play, Eck wants players who are comfortable and can take the ball, as for finances, resources are limited but I suspect money will be found for special cases (a couple of big hitters I believe are on the radar). Maik has another year left on his contract, the report in a national this morning was incorrect |
12:04 | Colin Tattum: Michael Bradley was lined up last summer, Blues got relegated obviously, so that put paid to that one then |
12:04 | [Comment From Scoobers] Mr. T, re Mr Larsson, any change in his contract stalemate ? Still has two years left on his existing deal I think ? |
12:04 | [Comment From JohnR] Anyone seen Colin |
12:04 | [Comment From Danny] afternoon all. any idea how long murphy is out for and will traore be signed up permanently? |
12:05 | [Comment From Blues09] Jordi Gomez would be ideal |
12:05 | [Comment From Olli] Hi do you think Lee Bowyer will sign up? |
12:05 | [Comment From Richard] i welcome the committment to play football if its matched with a get up and at them attitude. Thats what Blues do best and shouldnt be lost. |
12:05 | [Comment From Terry] is boyd and balde still in the frame and which centre half will we go for that can play in Prem |
12:06 | Colin Tattum: Larsson has next year then a 12 month option. If I were him I would sign the contract offered which, I believe, is still there. He celebrated like a man who was very, very happy to be back in the Premier League on the Madejski pitch |
12:08 | Colin Tattum: Bowyer is keen to stay, and Blues are keen to have him. Boyd is not a priority target but in Scotland you would be forgiven for thinking that Eck is about to rip apart Rangers! Just not so. Gomez is a player I know that Eck likes and they are keen on. |
12:08 | Colin Tattum: As for Balde.....don't think that one will ever go away, will it? You never know |
12:09 | [Comment From Richard] Micheal Johnson man city would be a good youthful addition. |
12:09 | [Comment From Matt] What improvements are beeing made to the Main Stand? the 1.5 million our good friend Mr Sullivan has been moaning about. |
12:09 | [Comment From Scoobers] Thanks Mr. T re Larsson. He may not of had his best season just, the Prem is probably better for his style of play. Fingers crossed he can began as well as he finished the last Prem season |
12:09 | Colin Tattum: Richard, I agree. You need a bit of both. Definitely Eck wants Blues to have more quality on the ball next season, which you need in the Premier League, whilst not losing that grit and spirit |
12:09 | [Comment From ciderblue] Hi Colin any idea who'll be offered contracts of those that have run out Jaidi DJ etc |
12:10 | [Comment From Gazza] Colin, do you think our scottish contingent will be bigger by the start of next season? |
12:10 | [Comment From Blues09] tatts- do youn think any deals are close? |
| 12:10 | What is the main area of the team that should be strengthened?GK Defence Midfield Attack |
12:11 | Colin Tattum: There's only Jaidi (apart from the loans) as a senior pro out of contract. Blues are talking to him. He has a 12 month option (in the club's favour), nothing has been finalised as yet. Traore, due to defensive injuries and the fact he's a free, is also of interest |
12:11 | [Comment From Richard] colin, which club would you like to see Blues model themselves on both on and off the pitch? |
12:12 | Colin Tattum: Blues09, I wouldn't say imminent, apart from Carr, which just needs signing his end, but the club are certainly working overtime to put things in place |
12:12 | Colin Tattum: Quick question for Colin and for everyone. Wolves and Blues will be flirting with all the same players. Who will be the biggest puller? |
12:12 | [Comment From Scoobers] Mr. T, any part of the club going to named after you in these new fan friendly days ?!!! |
12:12 | [Comment From BluSabre] OK I have a question, realistically what does Eck think he can achieve at the club? Surely you've had this conversation. |
12:13 | Steve Wollaston: Just a quick one - I asked that. It wasn't Colin asking himself! |
12:13 | [Comment From Scoobers] Re quick question - money (wages) - Blues, ambition - Wolves in my opinion |
12:13 | [Comment From Blues09] i hope we can pull off the Onyewu deal |
12:14 | Colin Tattum: Richard, they should forge their own indentity as a bona fide, competitive Premier League club who embrace the supporters and the community; there is a definite desire amongst those at St Andrew's to win back the fans |
12:15 | Colin Tattum: Eck would like Blues to survive next season first and foremost and then push on. It's a bit like the situation we were in in 2002; the process is starting over again. When I look at Everton, I wonder is there any reason why Blues can't emulate them? |
12:16 | Colin Tattum: Blues and Wolves will be battling for the same players this summer. Onyewu a case in point |
12:16 | [Comment From BluSabre] Bigger gates would help for starters |
12:16 | [Comment From Danny] just out of interest tatts, does mcleish know what mcfaddens best position is? i think he's going to be a big player for us this season |
12:16 | [Comment From ciderblue] In answer to yuor question US.We have numerous players with previous prem experience they don't am sure that will counr foe something it players minds. PS Any idea of how many season tickets have been sold and extra ones since we were confirmed promoted |
12:17 | Steve Wollaston: Loads of questions folks - stick with us. Colin is typing like a mentalist... |
12:17 | Colin Tattum: Danny, I had this conversation with Eck a few days back. I suspect he will look to nail him a position next season, and stick with it. My belief is that he is better coming off the wide areas than up front, unless you play a lone striker with one behind |
12:17 | [Comment From Olli] I Would love to see Sol Cambell at the blues to help develop Ridgewell and maybe Mills. What do you think? |
12:17 | [Comment From Richard] I agree. Someone raised a point about the World Cup - this is a great hook to pull some high calibre players from the bigger teams who would want to put themselves in capellos mind. Anyone got any examples - struggling to think? |
12:17 | [Comment From Gazza] Colin, do you know the players that Alex is trying to get and if so are they of sufficient quality? |
12:18 | [Comment From Simon] If we don't see solid investment in the team do you think we will struggle to stay up? (considering, when we play stronger teams that give us space we seem to play very well) |
12:18 | Colin Tattum: I think around 7,000 season tickets have now been sold |
12:18 | [Comment From ciderblue] Sorry about the gramatical errors on previous post, will check before I hit the send button this time |
12:19 | Colin Tattum: I wonder about Campbell. He fits the profile: exprienced, free, able to do a short term job while others come on.....I just think his wage demands might be too high |
12:19 | Steve Wollaston: CiderBlue - It's fine mate - it's not an English exam. Good job really, you would have got F- |
12:19 | [Comment From Blue Machine] Hi Tatts, any news on the "big hitters" and "special cases"?? Do you think he'll go foreign, i.e. an old European great such as Morientes, or will he go with a Premier League experienced striker i.e. Peter Crouch |
12:19 | [Comment From Blues09] tatts- with the kelly situation still in the air, do you think AM will go in for Nicky Hunt on a free? |
12:20 | Steve Wollaston: 93% think Blues will survive!! More positive Bluenoses than a couple of weeks ago before Reading game - good to see! |
12:20 | Colin Tattum: I have a fair idea of the kind of players Eck is after - I think there could be a couple of big hitters - he definitely wants a kind of Dugarry figure - but the keyword is quality. Of course, that doesn't come cheap |
12:21 | Colin Tattum: When Carr signs I can't see Hunt coming back, Kelly will be sold I would imagine and Parnaby would be back up to Carr |
12:22 | [Comment From Danny] ive been really impressed with fahey in the second half of the season, do you think he'll get a look in next season? |
12:22 | Steve Wollaston: My Bluenose mate has been telling me that Thierry Henry is in talks... he says this when he is sober - which is more worrying... |
12:22 | Colin Tattum: I think so, he's done very well and could grow in stature in the Premier League. He's comfortable on the ball and has adapted to that left side role very well |
12:22 | [Comment From Richard] dugarry = hero |
12:23 | [Comment From Blue Machine] Tatt's can you describe (obviously without giving names away) the type of "big hitter" he's after, e.g. the age bracket, type of player, league they're in etc... |
12:23 | [Comment From tilton1875] Carr and Parnaby.....Hardly a major confidence boost is it. I wonder if these two can cope at premier level now? |
12:23 | Colin Tattum: Re the 'big hitters', I don't know who they are other than Blues are speaking to a couple, one in the forward area |
12:24 | [Comment From b] ronaldinho wants way from ac milan... |
12:24 | Colin Tattum: Carr was outstanding, and showed no signs of injury problems. Parnaby has played all his career at Premier League level, barring last season |
12:25 | [Comment From tilton1875] In your own estimation what will be the NET SPEND this summer? |
12:25 | [Comment From Scoobers] Big Hitter - John Parkin !!! |
12:25 | [Comment From tilton1875] And what will be the max they spend on one player? |
12:25 | Steve Wollaston: Scoobers - John Parkin is a decent Championship player - but good enough at that level? |
12:26 | Steve Wollaston: Ah - you mean the BIG thing - sorry |
12:26 | Colin Tattum: tilts, going on past experience anything between £10 million - £15 million. That is a guestimate. There is not a lot to spend. They have made that clear. However, if someone tickles the fancy, so to speak, the money might be found over and above the budget |
12:26 | [Comment From Richard] campbell doesnt have any pace. We need a quick strong centre half. Wheater woudl be a good addition |
12:26 | [Comment From b] I don't see us spending more than £5 million on one player |
12:26 | [Comment From Simon] do you know of any of our acedemy/reserve players that eck will be watching closely during the tour in Austria?... do you think Mutch will get much of a chance? |
12:26 | [Comment From ciderblue] Tilts I think that's a little unfair on Carr. The way he played since joining us proves he'd be able to cut it in the Prem |
12:26 | [Comment From Gazza] C'mon Tatts - just give us the initials! |
12:26 | [Comment From Scoobers] Steve. no problem ... it's Friday !!! |
12:26 | [Comment From Blue Machine] In your article today you claimed Joe Hart was 6'5"!? I'm pretty sure thats a mistake! Have we been in touch with Man City/ the player yet? |
12:27 | Colin Tattum: Gazza, I don't know! If I said ZZ you would only jump to conclusions....he wouldn't command a fee lol |
12:28 | [Comment From kie] what blues are getting Zidane. oh my god! |
12:28 | [Comment From b] oh no tatts. not zheng zhi |
12:28 | [Comment From Sam Hogan] What do you think about signing Delph and Beckford from Leeds. Delph looks an amazing young talent and Beckford can seriously find the net? |
12:28 | Steve Wollaston: Delph will be in demand I reckon.... |
12:28 | [Comment From Sam Hogan] delph and beckford sign em up |
12:28 | [Comment From BluSabre] Was Mcfadden a special case? |
12:28 | [Comment From tilton1875] When is the scheduled board and manager meeting to discuss targets? Do you envisage a problem if Eck does not like what is made available? |
12:28 | Colin Tattum: I think representatives have been made re Joe Hart. Speaking to my counterpart in Manchester, he describes him as a 'big unit' - they list him as 6ft 5in officially - and he wants to play regularly on loan. The pieces all fit with that one |
12:28 | [Comment From BluSabre] Beckford isnt good enough...really? come on |
12:30 | [Comment From BluSabre] Just the other day you were saying that Eck had no plans to change Maik as number one.... |
12:30 | [Comment From kie] any news on old Marcus (the shadow) Bent. does anyone want him? |
12:30 | [Comment From Sam Hogan] He's worth a punt, could offer leeds something like sending Bent the other way. |
12:30 | Colin Tattum: Not so sure there has been a formal board meeting, or will be now. Eck is aware of what he has got to spend I gather. And as David Sullivan said to me the other day: 'Our budgets have always been flexible'. |
12:31 | Colin Tattum: BluSabre, that was before certain information became clear...things change quickly in football! |
12:31 | [Comment From tilton1875] A few names and your opinions on how possible...Geovanni, Zarate, Mills, Gooch and did you know Barca are looking to farm BOJAN out on loan make sure SULLY knows this please |
12:31 | [Comment From burnsey] colin, i think you should let mcleish know about a player called dani aquino. hes 18. hes good and he wants to leave real murcia for top flight football. |
12:31 | [Comment From David Gold(not that one)] Not sure if this has been asked already but what is the liklihood of new investors being foundon the horizon? And what are the noises being made behind the scenes with the current owners re their future...getting passed all of their usual spin? |
12:32 | Colin Tattum: Roy Aitken watched Delph a couple of times last season I believe. But Leeds are talking £5 million plus |
12:32 | [Comment From PJ] Tatts, do you think Jerome is worth the £20,000 a week he is supposedly asking for ? |
12:32 | [Comment From Blue Machine] Tatt's - do you know if Big Eck has any interested in Jermaine Pennant? We're looking light on the wings, and whilst I appreciate he will ask for big wages, we've been known to offer them to free agents in the past. Surely it would be a fabulous deal to get a 26year old we know well in on a free transfer, who we sold for £7m! |
12:32 | [Comment From tilton1875] Delph is too much of a risk at even £3m we need players who are comfortable with a higher level |
12:33 | [Comment From kie] a cheeky 5m + nafti, bent. for Delph and Beckford |
12:33 | [Comment From Gazza] Colin, anyone from Reading that Alex would like? Think Stephen Hunt would be a good addition! |
12:33 | [Comment From BluSabre] Re: Delph, do you think blues are prepared to take a punt on a young but expensive promising player like him considering what his sell on value could be? |
12:33 | [Comment From burnsey] why are you talking about buying league one players, who couldnt get promoted, to play in the prem? |
12:34 | [Comment From tilton1875] Leeds couldnt afford to pay Bent £25k a week |
12:34 | Colin Tattum: Mills, Doncaster want too much at this present time, Eck wants a more experienced player at the back as well with Ridgewell injured. Zarate? At 20 million euros.....? Onyewu is fancied and in the price range. Blues are aware of who could be available at clubs like Barca in Spain and Italy |
12:35 | [Comment From tilton1875] Zarate has only 18 months on his deal to my knowledge so surely worth less? I keep hearing Lazio have failed to cement the deal is this true? |
12:35 | Colin Tattum: Can't see any new investors on the horizon. Incidentially, we have a story going in the Mail tomorrow about Carson Yeung..... |
12:36 | [Comment From tilton1875] Boyd or Fletcher, who is the most likely? |
12:36 | [Comment From Scoobers] Gomez at Swansea would be excellent if AM and the club could pull that one off. Apart from Stephen Carr the back five at Reading I don't think would be first choice at the higher level if the manager had the choice |
12:36 | [Comment From Blue Machine] Tatt's - do you know if Big Eck has any interested in Jermaine Pennant? We're looking light on the wings, and whilst I appreciate he will ask for big wages, we've been known to offer them to free agents in the past. Surely it would be a fabulous deal to get a 26year old we know well in on a free transfer, who we sold for £7m! |
12:36 | [Comment From tilton1875] Carson Yeung WHAT HAPPENING THEN? |
12:36 | [Comment From Scoobers] Carson's buying out Randy isn't he ?!!! |
12:36 | [Comment From Danny] any idea about how serious murphys injury is and when he'll be back? i'd imagine a fit murphy would be eck's first choice left back?? |
12:36 | Colin Tattum: Not sure the situation with Zarate to be honest. He would be great to have back, but I think he believes he could join a established Premier League club |
12:37 | [Comment From burnsey] dani aquino |
12:37 | [Comment From tilton1875] Maybe another loan for Zarate? |
12:37 | Colin Tattum: I'm hoping to speak to Murphy in the next couple of days. Furlong fractured his kneecap once I remember and it took him four to six months to recover |
12:37 | [Comment From ciderblue] RE Zarate can't see him wanting to come back with Eck still in charge .He didn't show a lot of faith last time did he? |
12:37 | [Comment From Blue Machine] With Franck's in ability to play 2 consecutive games, and Murphy's injury I'd love to see us ask Tottenham for Gareth Bale on a season-long loan deal. |
12:38 | Steve Wollaston: Does Zarate do Karate? If not he should. |
12:38 | Steve Wollaston: sorry |
12:38 | [Comment From tilton1875] Armand Traore is an ideal left back loan |
12:38 | Colin Tattum: Blues could well look at someone like Bale because of the left back situation, as well as talk to Traore |
12:38 | [Comment From kie] geee good one steve |
12:38 | [Comment From kie] kieran gibbs at arsenal? |
12:39 | Colin Tattum: Good shout on Armand Traore |
12:39 | [Comment From Danny] gareth bale?? good shout!! not a regular either in the spurs line up! |
12:39 | Steve Wollaston: Okay... lots or random names. Pick one realistic target you would like to see at the club... |
12:39 | [Comment From burnsey] standard lieges left back |
12:40 | Colin Tattum: Lee Carsley said in the television interview I did with him that Kevin Phillips and himself didn't expect to play every game next season...thoughts? |
12:40 | [Comment From David Gold(not that one)] alan smith? |
12:40 | [Comment From tilton1875] David Dein I heard that he sold shares in a company for £40m is their something in his relationship with Gold.....Can you see him joining our board? |
12:41 | [Comment From kie] Bougerra |
12:41 | [Comment From Danny] i was just going to ask you about carsley, do you think he'll be first choice? |
12:41 | Colin Tattum: I can't see Dein joining the Blues board. He is Arsenal through and through and holds out hope of going back there one day I would imagine. He is good friends with Karren Brady |
12:42 | Colin Tattum: As it stands now, yes. But he probably won't play week in, week out. Depends how comes in and what formation Eck plays in certain games I guess |
12:43 | [Comment From burnsey] targets: Dani Aquino, Axel Witsel and Landry Mulemo |
12:43 | [Comment From ciderblue] Tilta I admire your optimism |
12:43 | [Comment From dave] how about kevin nolan if the geordies do go down? |
12:43 | [Comment From Matt] Bojan to join Blues? |
12:43 | [Comment From Scoobers] I can see Lee Carsley playing more than he thinks next season and having an even better season. KP = supersub, especially at home games |
12:43 | [Comment From Blue Machine] Suprised with Carsley saying he didn't think he'd play reguarly - maybe this means we are looking at someone for his defensive midfield position - Papa Bouba Diop was linked... I think he's still got the legs personally, and theres other positions we need to strengthen alot more |
12:43 | [Comment From Connor] Colin do you have any idea who we'll we playing in Austria and where? Looking to book flights etc but we can't really unless we know the full details |
12:43 | [Comment From Blue Machine] Steve - one transfer target? I think someone like Peter Crouch could be our "special case" to break the budget. Exactly what we need.... in his 20's, English, Prem experience, big striker who can hold the ball up, and will get you 10 goals +. What do you guys think? |
12:43 | [Comment From burnsey] a completely ridiculous target but a kind of player to put in the shop window for big clubs is Hernanes. 23 year brazilian, hes going to be the best footballer in the world. |
12:43 | [Comment From Scoobers] Mr. T, compared to the last time we were promoted have you noticed any key differences at the club to give everyone more hope for the forthcoming season ? |
12:43 | [Comment From BluSabre] Is Bouazza still being considered? |
12:44 | [Comment From Scoobers] Steve's on commission ... |
12:44 | Steve Wollaston: Scoobers - have you watched them? Good stuff.... |
12:44 | Colin Tattum: OK folks, anyone think Blues have not got the credit deserved in the wider public domain for achieving promotion, or that was a target that should always have been hit? |
12:44 | [Comment From Jimlad] Is there any truth in the Steve Hunt report? Also, any chance of Roger Johnson coming? |
12:45 | Colin Tattum: Bouazza, not so sure. It wouldn't surprise me if Blues didn't take him. |
12:45 | [Comment From fazeley blues] rumour is we are having a high profile freindly at home on August 8th. Can you confirm this |
12:45 | [Comment From ciderblue] Oops I did it again Sorry Tilts |
12:45 | [Comment From Scoobers] Steve - I haven't yet, this Spectrum I found at Barnsley isn't much cop .. |
12:46 | [Comment From Danny] is cardiffs mccormack on the radar atall? |
12:46 | Colin Tattum: Cardiff want £5 million for Johnson. He's on Blues list of centre-halves, which I believe is a long list! I can't see the Hunt one to be honest. £5 million, plus big wages over X number of years would dent the budget hugely for a player in a position where Blues are not exactly struggling |
12:47 | [Comment From Terry] where are blues going for pre season Blackpool or bignor knowing our board |
12:47 | Colin Tattum: Fazeley, don't know. I think getting the pitch ready would be the priority. McCormack Cardiff want £4 million plus, Ledley £7 million...Terry, Austria, games to be confirmed |
12:47 | [Comment From dave] is it more likely that the players eck does end up signing will be some from the championship, or from abroad,,,almost relitively unkownn ones? |
12:48 | Colin Tattum: More likely from abroad. Asking prices for Championship players are getting higher and higher |
12:48 | Steve Wollaston: West Brom made the mistake of too many foreigners. Needs to be a balance? |
12:48 | [Comment From ciderblue] Is Jordan Mutch going to be ready for next season and do you think Eck will use him in the Prem |
12:48 | [Comment From Terry] not exactly exoctic is it, or are the board pulling purse strings yet again |
12:49 | [Comment From kyle] do you know where fahey is going to be played? if carso doesn't think he's going to play every game then fahey in the middle with maybe ferguson or bowyer. and hopefully we sign a left winger. maybe chris brunt if baggies go down. |
12:49 | [Comment From David Gold(not that one)] if it wasnt for the fact that the football we played for most of the season was pretty poor I think we would have received much more credit for winning promotion. i think setting out to be organised and solid throughout isnt necessarily pretty or inspiring, it may work in out favour whe we need to be defending for our lives in the Prem. |
12:49 | [Comment From Blue Machine] Tatt's - do you know if Big Eck has any interested in Jermaine Pennant? We're looking light on the wings, and whilst I appreciate he will ask for big wages, we've been known to offer them to free agents in the past. Surely it would be a fabulous deal to get a 26year old we know well in on a free transfer, who we sold for £7m! |
12:49 | [Comment From burnsey] Can we get Dugarry and his mate, some guy called Zidane to team up with Horsefield as some new coaches? |
12:49 | [Comment From tilton1875] Dugarry as a coach would be a great move? |
12:50 | [Comment From Blue Machine] I think we can get some real value from bosmans this summer, and the odd (not too many!) loan deals............Hart (loan), Bale (loan), Campbell (free), Sean Davis (free), Pennant (free), Viduka (free) and leave the transfer budget remaining for a cracking centrehalf(£5m) and centre forward (£7m) |
12:50 | [Comment From Terry] now colin ur hoesnt opioion knowing the blues board as you do WILL they spend the cash to keep them up |
12:50 | [Comment From Scoobers] West Brom bought too many players with little or no Premiership experience which may not of helped. Anything in Mr. Strachan wanting Gary O'Connor rumours ? |
12:50 | Colin Tattum: Can't see Pennant coming in; Larsson's spot. |
12:50 | [Comment From burnsey] Dugarry, Zidane and the Horse would be the greatest coaching team ever. |
12:50 | [Comment From kyle] pennant, viduka, campbell... wages??? |
12:51 | Steve Wollaston: Viduka has stated he will stay a Newcastle if Shearer does |
12:51 | Colin Tattum: The board will make available between £10 million - £15 million is my guesstimate. Whether it is all spent, let's wait and see |
12:51 | Steve Wollaston: at even |
12:51 | [Comment From PJ] Viduka's best days have long gone !! |
12:51 | [Comment From tilton1875] Viduka too fat and dont wanna leave becuase who else wud give him 70k wk now? |
12:51 | [Comment From ciderblue] Totally agree PJ |
12:52 | [Comment From Terry] colin do the board take notice of this forum, do they watch, and will they take notice 15m is nothing for the prem |
12:52 | Colin Tattum: Viduka was offered 60k a week by Blues when he was leaving Middlesbrough....agree think its unlikely they will be in this time |
12:52 | [Comment From Gazza] Tatts, do you think he will try for Kitson again, would imagine his value has decreased! |
12:53 | [Comment From burnsey] i hope we stay far away from signing big wage full of themselves players... weve got enough already. i want us to sign players with something to prove |
12:53 | [Comment From Jimlad] We wouldn't have enough pies to feed Viduka |
12:53 | [Comment From burnsey] sheffers and murph have ate them all already |
12:53 | [Comment From Terry] no body i think has mentioned barton what do u think? |
12:53 | [Comment From tilton1875] Kitson no way he declared his love for Reading only |
12:53 | [Comment From kyle] remember blues aparent loan bid for Michael Owen when he ws at Madrid. classic blues! |
12:54 | Colin Tattum: Terry, people at the club do, and it's about value for money I suppose. I would love to see Blues spend, say £8 million on a striker, £5 million centre-back and so on, but I don't think that's going to happen. The counter argument is Sunderland, with the money they spent, and look where they are |
12:54 | [Comment From ianb] of the 10 - 15 million will we get the boards time honoured tradition of lumping salaries into the transfer outgoings as they try to blind fans with figures! |
12:54 | Colin Tattum: Kitson's stock has fallen |
12:55 | [Comment From kyle] Kevin Doyle anyone? |
12:55 | [Comment From dave] honsestly don't feel that around £10 or so million to spend would be enough to give Eck a chance of staying in them prem, as it's vital we sign at least 8 players for the new season and we wouldn't recoup a lot of money either tansfer wise or wages by getting rid of fringe players such as tiny, jaidi, bent etc.....it's ok for the board to keep on harping on about not doing a Leeds, but they need to guard against doing a Charlton!!! |
12:55 | [Comment From Gazza] What about AJ back? |
12:55 | [Comment From Terry] colin yes but for gods sake what do they want, really they want to sell the club there not going to spend are they so that leaves us in another relegation dog fite |
12:55 | [Comment From burnsey] Kitson is also rubbish and going nowhere at 29 |
12:55 | [Comment From David Gold(not that one)] Good point Terry! Do the board realise what is now required in way of investment, particularly in the first season. Surely two seasons of big investments will pay for itslef in the long term. It's a gamble of course but the other option is to just face relegation again. our board seem intent on seeing us do everything on a shoestring. |
12:56 | Steve Wollaston: Five more minutes folks! |
12:56 | [Comment From kie] whats happen to Jason Koumas? was on the rader once i believe |
12:57 | [Comment From Connor] Any news where we'll be playing in Austria? |
12:57 | Steve Wollaston: Sullivan |
12:57 | Colin Tattum: Koumas was in Steve Bruce's time, don't know the venues yet in Austria |
12:57 | Steve Wollaston: God It's so Friday! |
12:57 | [Comment From ianb] we all know strikers cost the big money which blues wont spend, is eck looking to take a gamble from the loewr leagues such as beckford? or more likely from abroad |
12:57 | [Comment From Terry] ok before you go u guys will you please please tell the bored how we the blue noses ahve had it rubbed in our face for far to long |
12:57 | [Comment From David Gold(not that one)] should we ask Steve bruce who we should sign so thathe can pick them up on a free in two years time? |
12:57 | [Comment From burnsey] okay so mcleish should sign dani aquino, axel witsel, landry mulemo, hernanes and that onyewu. |
12:57 | [Comment From Tony] It worries me that we are going to be in the same position as we were last time and that under investment is going to result in us having a big relegation battle on our hands. It seems that the limit of the directors ambitions is just to survive and not to achieve anything more. The premiership moves on in quality season after season and the board must be prepared to provide the finances to enable us to at least compete with the teams outside the top 6. At the moment I see no sign that they are prepared to do that. |
12:58 | Colin Tattum: I can't imagine Blues taking a gamble from a lower league, rather a player from abroad who has some pedigree |
12:58 | [Comment From Terry] so if they dont spen they will loose money because of relegation again by fans not turning up simple as that |
12:58 | Colin Tattum: Terry, that's the situation - it's a bit of a crossroads, isn't it? |
12:59 | [Comment From Terry] plese lol have a leader in ur paper please board support the fans |
12:59 | [Comment From ianb] such as carlos costly lol!!!! |
12:59 | [Comment From Terry] colin |
12:59 | Steve Wollaston: Won't have a word said against chicken legs Costly |
12:59 | [Comment From Terry] colin has been for yearsm8 |
12:59 | [Comment From Scoobers] Remember the first Premiership transfer window ? The whole club fed off that for months after. It may take only a couple of "names" to get that excitement back |
12:59 | [Comment From Terry] were doomed before we start |
12:59 | Colin Tattum: Costly was only ever cover...although he's among Honduras' finest |
1:00 | Steve Wollaston: Ok folks 60 seconds - a burning last minute thought? |
1:00 | Colin Tattum: Scoobers, the board might think that way too, I have a suspicion |
1:00 | [Comment From Terry] no money spent relegation certain simple as that |
1:00 | [Comment From Olli] Pleople like terry dont help BLues at all!! |
1:00 | [Comment From Matt] when will blues make there first signing |
1:00 | [Comment From burnsey] Costly got Sven sacked |
1:00 | [Comment From Danny] cheer up terry!! |
1:00 | [Comment From ianb] is eck frustrated by the blues board? |
1:01 | [Comment From Scoobers] Thanks Mr. T and Secretary Steve !!! Have a good one |
1:01 | [Comment From David Gold(not that one)] its up to the board! the right amount of money gives you a chance to be more 'lucky' with transfers! |
1:01 | [Comment From Terry] its the truth m8 |
1:01 | [Comment From ciderblue] Colin Re Costly enough said!!!! |
1:01 | [Comment From Gazza] Colin, are you excited by this transfer window? |
1:01 | Colin Tattum: Ian, Eck is a positive person by nature and he is prepared to give it a shot and hopes that everyone else pulls together as Blues will be back in the underdog role next season |
1:01 | [Comment From Danny] cheers for the info tatts, nice 1! |
1:01 | Steve Wollaston: Colin is just typing his Jerry Springer style goodbye |
1:01 | [Comment From Terry] anyway keep right on we always do lol |
1:02 | [Comment From Terry] good chat thanks guys |
1:02 | [Comment From Danny] keep right oN! |
1:02 | Colin Tattum: Gazza, I am a little because I'd like to see what Eck comes up with and Blues can't keep going up and down, up and down ....can they? |
1:02 | Steve Wollaston: Thanks to all for taking part... Colin will be back in 3 weeks hopefully with news of signings |
1:02 | [Comment From ianb] I have alot of time for him & dont think he gets the credit he deserves for the job he did |
1:02 | [Comment From ciderblue] Thanks Steve Colin really enjoy these |
