Birmingham City David Sullivan says there's harmony at Blues

“We would like to put a smile on supporters’ faces again and hopefully discover a few stars for the team.

“I’d like to think that whoever pulls on the blue shirt next season will wear it with pride and everyone will get behind them.”

Sullivan, who is never shy about lambasting players he doesn’t feel are pulling their weight, admitted it was hard to criticise this season’s crop.

“I don’t think you could say even one player didn’t try his hardest. Some didn’t perform to their potential, but it wasn’t a lack of effort. Some just hit a bad run of form,” he said.

“It wasn’t that dissimilar to two years ago, when we finished runners-up. We had Bendtner and McSheffrey scoring goals, but we didn’t create many chances.

“This time we didn’t take our chances as much but we didn’t concede as many goals.

“I know people say we didn’t play very well, but what you have to take on board is that we were very hard to beat.

“In the last ten or 11 games Alex found the formula that worked for us very well and we also scored more goals.”
