We won't be Premier League whipping boys says Liam Ridgewell

Ridgewell added: “We’ve got the nucleus of a good squad, a lot of lads have Premier League experience, and although we’re losing a few players, the base is there to work from.

“I see the gaffer’s said we need up to 10 players and I think what he means is not necessarily for the actual team itself, but for the squad to make sure we’ve got enough ability and depth to be very competitive.

“He’s now got a whole summer to pencil in and get the ones he wants.

“I’m sure he will be after quality and if he gets the backing, then we’ve cause to be confident.

“Birmingham have got the potential to be a good Premier League club. We don’t want to be going up and down between the Premier League and Championship all the time.

“Although we deservedly won promotion in the end, the Championship wasn’t the kind of experience any of us want to go through again. We’ve got to look to kick on.”
