Birmingham City fans speak out on £6.2m bid for Christian Benitez

Supacragg: If this transfer goes through and the figures are correct I will be astonished. £9m for 1 player with 6 more to go from 10 (Carr, Bowyer and Traore). What will that tell us about what's to come? Either the board have finally clicked about what is needed from them or McLiesh is making a howler i.e. taking a risk on one unproven player. I think it will probably be the former.
I had hoped that the board were keeping there tranfer kitty figures close to thier chest to keep prices down. I will wait and see.

Tilton1875: To be honest I really couldnt care if he flops at least if we sign players like this and it dont work out we can say AT LEAST THEY SHOWED AMBITION

Harborne1: It would give a huge lift to all Blues fans if a major signing like this would walk through the door and give us hope that this lot really do want to take Birmingham City to the next level.

BRING IT ON!!! and a couple more like that would do nicely and set a big buzz around the City!!!

Believe me if Birmingham City Football Club are on the verge of committing over £9m on one player they would of had this lad watched and watched and even know what colour underpants he wears,he would of been vetted inside and out by several people!!!

I think he is going to be a very special player! but the only thing that i plead to our board is if this deal falls through do not lock away this £9m and we never see it again, push on and bid it on another striker,Do not give us false hope AGAIN!!!!KRO!!!!

BluesBrotherUK: Without wanting to sound negative im a bit worried by this as £9m is a lot of money for someone scoring goals in the MEXICAN league would we not be better using that money for someone like Darren Bent of Spurs proven to score goals in the Premiership, it worries me that we would presumably be spending most of our budget on a player that has been a success in a far inferior league to the one we ould be asking him to play in look at Carlos Costly.

Mybloodisblue: I, for one, will take this report at its word. I don't think the board would dare to try it on with the way fans are feeling right now. This might, just might, be the start of a real push to establish Blues in the Premier League. On the other hand, I could be wrong and the board IS trying it on to shut the fans up. There's no way we can know, so let's just wait and see before going overboard - in either direction.

PJ1875: Just hope we can get Christian Benitez signed up before Brucie takesover at Sunderland !! What with him trying to sign him back in January for Wigan I can see Bruce wanting to make him his first signing and gazumping us in the process !!

Jazzy786: He looks a good player. Eck is correct going for overseas players where the prices aren't so inflated. Who is the top 6 side though? If Carew goes - Villa??? Can't see Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea or even Arsenal being interested. Everton or Villa are the only two who could possibly be interested. This may just be hype to generate interest by his agent of course.

Sounds like he has a lot of pace, trickery and knows where the back of the net is. A bit worrying is he is only 5'6" - but how tall was Zarate? Come to think of it how tall is Messi?
