Birmingham City fans back the board
Yesterday David Gold stated that he was very optimistic about the Premiership campaign for Birmingham City and that preperation was going well - here's the article.
Here are some of the reactions we have received to this interview...
BluesNorthWest: Wouldnt it be very interesting if ALL clubs had exactly the same maximum amount to spend every season on transfer's see how Man Utd.....Chelsea....Liverpool etc do on a rubbish transfer fund like most clubs.
Eric: I believe the club is being well run. Most important is that the fans get behind the team - WIN, DRAW OR LOSE. If they do this we will be competitive. I hope the fickle, negative fans can change their ways or go support Villa.
Azzuroverro: The spiralling costs of new acquisitions is crippling the game, especially at the top level - reference to Kaka et al - and clubs like Birmingham and others will be forced to pay over the top for mediocrity. This is a sad fact and I am sure a lot of Premiership managers and chairmen would concur with that.
With the recession hitting the West Midlands particularly badly the chances of local investment are minimal so our problems will be escalated.I cannot believe that a club which is run on such sensible lines hasn't been singled out for sensible outside investors.
After all most clubs who are taken over have huge debts which need to be addressed before the real investment can kick in.I have huge respect for the board in their endeavours which cannot be easy given those circumstances- I remember the bad old days of the late seventies and eighties - and any take over would be seen as a blue riband investment.
So take heed all you budding Abramoviches - and come and invest in the REAL Blues and not The Pensioners or the Toffeemen.
As for next season I believe we will be better prepared for survival and beyond with the new signings. So go for it Blues and well done to the board and management team.
PortsmouthBluenose: I am really pleased with the way the club is being run, I think the board are right in keeping within a fixed budget why go down the road of some other clubs, it is a pity that the powers that be do not stop the ever increasing transfer fees and wages within the game, it is about time football took a reality check.
I be leave that we have the right man to Manage the club, with a bit of wheeler dealing in the transfer market he will produce a team that can more than hold it’s own in the premiership and take the club on to another level ,with a bit of luck week in week out and a lot of supported from all bluenoses the club will become a top side, I hope Alex stays with the club after all it is the only way to succeed.
StourportBlue: Blues are doing really well with the exciting changes they are making for next season. They ought to prove that the attempt to get Michael Owen on loan from Real Madrid was not a publicity stunt by going out and getting him now.
As there is no transfer fee to pay I'm sure the other players wouldn't mind if Blues gave him a bit more in his wage packet. David Gold has said Blues are going to make a signing that will light up the season. Is there a bigger name available for free at the moment?
Reesa: We have to be realistic, our budget is expected to be between 10 and 15 million... Sully likes his "special ones" which he regards Benitez as. We know we wont spend 30 or 40 million.
So would you rather buy 10 1million players (where is the quality there?) or buy one or 2 decent players for 4/5million and some decents bosmans??
People think that coz these players are "free" then they are not good enough.
Carr and Bowyer were free and were excellent for us.
If we can get Gooch, Balde for free and pay 5m for Johnson then I dont think anyone can complain.
